  1. Early on the morning of Saturday 11th January Cornwall Dance School's Performance Team along with proffesional actor Tim Seyfert and professional Nail artists Anthea Thomas, Claire Bidgood and Chrissy Pearce (under the quidance of London Nail Artist Sam Biddle), Hairdresser's from Afina's in Truro and Make-up Artist Ceri-April Hillman headed towards the Burrell Theatre to get set up for the day's filmed shoot.

Swenson Kearey from lighting and sound company NineTwentyFive had been busy setting up and the theatre and preparing for a day full of smoke, screens, dancer's, light and sound technology! And along with Geoff Mason Brown from Blue Light Media and Assistant Matt Pitman they had prepared the building for a very long but fantastically productive day.

We planned to be able to give the students an opportunity of a lifetime, to work alongside professional's in a Film Set environment and not only to gain camera experience and a showreel that they can use for their future career's in film/tv or a media environment, but to gain an experience that will remain with them forever no matter what they end up doing in life.

I cannot thank everyone involved enough for all of the time and effort they have put into this, giving up not only their weekend to come along and support the filmed project but taking their own time out to create fantastically fashionable accessories which helped put the finishing touches on the look and feel of the whole project!

We plan to enter our Film into the Cornish Film Festival later on this year. Natura has now been finished and it looks absolutely fantastic, all of the hard work everyone put in has truely paid off and we cannot wait to hold a viewing of the film, but not too soon! We are saving the film and the secret story for the festival so you will have to watch this space to see more!

Many thanks to Professional Photographer Daniel Bink's who took some fantastic shot's of the day, and a huge thank you to the West Briton for the great piece about the project!

In the meantime check out images of the shoot over the sourse of the day on our Gallery Page!

  2. What a fantastic performance by all of our students at the Burrell Theatre on Sunday 15th December 2013! I am so proud of how far you have all come and how much you have all achieved this year! The show's are a great opportunity for us to encourage students to individually shine and you all certainly shined bright this christmas!

Captain Hook ran like a story basing routines and solo's around the famous films - 'Peter Pan' and 'Hook'. Our main Dancers - Sophie Stevens (Captain Hook), Ellie Swann (Smee) Lydon Jackson (Peter Pan), Ellie Ringrose (Wendy), Issy Keat (Tinkerbell), Young Peter and Wendy (Ben & Megan) did a brilliant job infusing the dance with the story by performing with emotion and feeling, and adding traights to their individual characters as the story came together.

Our Performance Team showed us their Glee Style of story telling and with Solo Songs from not only Wendy, Tinkerbell and Smee but also from students Beth Williams & Ben Williams - we told a story of despair as Peter forgot about everything that was important to him and lost the girl of his dreams! With Drunken Hiphop Pirates and Lost Boys and Girls the show was filled with non stop Streetdance, Contemporary, Breakdance, Lyrical, Tap, Ballet & Pointe with Glee Style Musical Numbers and Solo Songs and Dances!

Our 'Dance Fam' - which is made up of students in the school looking to do more choreography and work with other students on routines and numbers, and led by our eldest in the group Sophie Stevens - performed their own awesome routine 'Waka Waka' showcasing their individual talents and choreography!

And it was fantastic to have our Unite Academy Class (for Adults with Learning Dissabilities) performing their routine 'Take Back the Night' as Pirates with 'Captain Hook'! They did a brilliant job and so did our fantastic helper Sophie Stevens, who not only stays to help with Unite Classes but also leads the 'Dance Fam' aswell as attending many classes of her own at the school!

A Huge Well Done to all of the cast and crew involved you were absolutely amazing! Massive thank you to all of our backstage helpers - you guys are just amazing with the kids and make the atmosphere so fantastic and family-friendly backstage!

Thanks to Adele Green and Ceri April Hillman for MakeUp and Hair, Kat Gibbon and Haidee Cornfield for helping out backstage, Geoff Mason Brown from Blue Light Media and Andrea Pennington for her gorgeous Photography, Darren my Rock and All of the Cornwall Dance Students for making every moment worthwhile!
